What it treats

Swelling and lymphatic conditions

  • Lymphedema — including after surgery involving lymph node removal, resulting in swelling of the arms or legs
  • General fluid retention and swelling (edema) of all types
  • Skin protection for fragile or at-risk skin, helping prevent bruising and skin tears

Skin and vascular conditions

  • Venous insufficiency, a condition where the veins of the lower extremity cannot return blood to the heart
  • Varicose veins — manages swelling and pain associated with dilated and distended veins

Wound and injury recovery

  • Enhanced healing of surgical and traumatic wounds of the extremities
  • Faster healing of bruising
  • Improved appearance of skin grafts

How it works

EdemaWear® uses a technology developed at the University of Nebraska Medical Center called Fuzzy Wale Elastic Compression (FWC). Soft, corduroy-like "wales" run along the length of the garment and press gently into the skin, creating a cornrow-like furrow where compression is high enough to be physiologically useful.

Between the wales, small areas of uncompressed skin allow healthy lymphatic vessels to remain open and functional. These zero-pressure zones are believed to enhance lymphatic drainage from the compressed skin furrows, encouraging fluid to move back toward the heart.

Unlike traditional compression garments — which act as a uniform tourniquet around the limb — EdemaWear's alternating compression and relief pattern works with the lymphatic system and are lighter and more comfortable to wear than regular compression garments, while still being effective. EdemaWear is also the perfect choice for air travel.

How to put it on

  • Roll the stocking like a sock, place it onto the foot or hand, then unroll it up toward the body.
  • For painful or very swollen limbs, place a plastic bag over the foot or hand first. Pull EdemaWear over the bag, remove the bag, then draw the garment down into place.
  • EdemaWear can be cut to the length you need — it will not unravel.
  • To prevent it from rolling down, fold the top edge over to create a 3" cuff. It can also be worn inside out.
  • If wearing socks, put them on over EdemaWear — the garment should always be in direct contact with the skin.

Care instructions

  • Hand wash or machine wash in cold water and hang to dry.
  • Bloodstains can be removed with hydrogen peroxide.
  • With daily use, EdemaWear typically lasts 4–6 months, and may last longer in non-ambulatory patients.
  • Remove daily for bathing and repositioning.

What clients often notice

  • A sense of comfort and relief at the skin level
  • Reduced feeling of heaviness or inflammation in the limb
  • Visible reduction in swelling with regular use
  • Improved skin condition in areas affected by venous insufficiency

Low energy levels and poor sleep quality can significantly impact your daily life and overall well-being. While there are many factors that contribute to these issues, one often-overlooked solution is lymphatic drainage. Let's explore how this gentle technique can help rejuvenate your energy and improve your sleep.

Understanding Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a specialized massage therapy designed to enhance the flow of lymph, a clear fluid that plays a crucial role in the body's immune system. The lymphatic system acts as a waste removal system, clearing toxins, excess fluid, and cellular debris from the body. Lymphatic drainage massage aims to stimulate this system, promoting overall health and vitality.

The Connection Between Low Energy and Poor Sleep

Low energy and poor sleep often go hand in hand. When your body is burdened with toxins and excess fluid retention, it can lead to feelings of fatigue and discomfort. Furthermore, stress and tension can disrupt your sleep patterns, making it difficult to enjoy restful nights.

The Benefits of Lymphatic Drainage for Energy and Sleep:

  1. Detoxification: Lymphatic drainage helps the body eliminate waste and toxins more efficiently, reducing the overall burden on your system. This detoxification process can lead to increased energy levels.

  2. Improved Circulation: By enhancing lymphatic circulation, you promote better blood flow and oxygen delivery to your cells. This can lead to increased vitality and mental clarity.

  3. Stress Reduction: Lymphatic drainage is a deeply relaxing experience. As stress and tension melt away, you'll find it easier to unwind, promoting better sleep quality.

  4. Reduction in Fluid Retention: Excess fluid retention can make you feel sluggish and uncomfortable. Lymphatic drainage helps to reduce this retention, allowing you to feel lighter and more energetic.

The Experience

Lymphatic drainage is a gentle and soothing massage technique. A qualified therapist uses light, rhythmic strokes to encourage lymph flow throughout your body. Many people find it an incredibly relaxing and pleasurable experience.

Incorporating Lymphatic Drainage Into Your Wellness Routine

To experience the benefits of lymphatic drainage, consider adding it to your wellness routine. Regular sessions with a trained therapist can help maintain your energy levels and sleep quality

Conclusion

Low energy and poor sleep don't have to be your daily reality. Lymphatic drainage offers a holistic approach to rejuvenating your energy levels and improving your sleep quality. By promoting detoxification, reducing stress, and enhancing circulation, this gentle therapy can help you feel revitalized and enjoy restful nights.

Explore the potential of lymphatic drainage as a natural way to restore your vitality and promote the peaceful, restorative sleep you deserve. It's time to take charge of your well-being and experience the transformation it can bring to your life.
